HOCO Weekend! || Fall '21

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

Maryville College had a wonderful 202nd homecoming weekend. The concert choir got to resume our Alumni choir performance on Saturday morning, and we loved being able to sing together with our alum.

We had the pleasure of having guest conductor Lynn Duke Urda (former MC Student) direct some of our songs in our Homecoming Choir Concert!

Mrs. Lynn Urda is the founder and Director of the Gwinnett Singers in North Atlanta. She founded GYS in 1990, and has built an impressive record with the group. She is an inspiring musician, and gave such useful notes to make our performance top notch.

Off-Kilter was asked to perform at the 2021 Founder's Day Ceremony, which is a big honor. Off-Kilter had a wonderful performance, and was so grateful to be part of the ceremony. In the picture above, Mrs. Wilner, our wonderful conductor, led Off-Kilter in The Parting Glass and Dies Ire. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to showcase our incredible

We also had the pleasure of hosting an Alumni Roundtable Panel on Friday afternoon. Maryville College and MC Concert Choir Alumni Dr. Dwight Docker '05, Shelley Maddox '05, Mindy Reagan '19, Tina Walker Hackney '94, and Lynn Duke Urda '69 joined Music Major class, Applied Topics, and shared their life stories, time at MC and in the MC Concert Choir (and small ensembles), and about their love for music. All five are currently participating in music of some kind, and say that their time at Maryville College created the best memories.

We are SO grateful to get to spend time with alumni (some that we knew, and some that we didn't!), and we are so excited to be together again on stage. We are also grateful for Mrs. Urda for coming to direct, we enjoyed her presence back on campus. It was a wonderful Homecoming.

We are looking forward to HOCO 2022!! Go Scots!
